Our Story

Danny and Orlinda Maforo were married in September 2000 and since then have been blessed with five beautiful children, two girls and three boys. They are a family that welcomes people into their home for fellowship, love and laughter, especially the down-trodden. There is never a lack of activity in the Maforo home, yet many a visitor has remarked at how peaceful or refreshed they felt when they visited the Maforo home. It has always been important to Danny and Orlinda to demonstrate the love of God home and away.

As devoted followers of Jesus Christ, both of them have served ministerially in a myriad of ways including, church, Christian organizations, teaching Bible Studies, mission trips, and one-on-one mentorship of young believers. Danny is a Certified Public Accountant who holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and serves as Controller at a local manufacturing company. Orlinda is a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a Master’s degree in Global Health and Planning Management. She works for a tertiary institution as a Clinical Research Program Manager.

Despite the rigors of raising a family and a demanding career, this couple hearkened to the call of the Holy Spirit by stepping out in faith and birthed Love Thy Neighbor. Danny and Orlinda have a shared desire to heed the commandment Jesus gave in Luke chapter 10 verses 25 to 37. They seek to be that ‘good Samaritan’ that Jesus described and never turn a blind eye to a need that they can provide for.

Having lived in both Zimbabwe and the United States of America, Danny and Orlinda know too well that hardships are not only afflicting those who live in low to median income countries. Thus, Love Thy Neighbor is an international organization that lends a helping hand wherever it is needed.
